Base Makeup Routine

** This is an updated version since my old one somehow got deleted! Enjoy 😄

Before I get into some details of what I put on my face, I do some things BEFORE I even get started. I invest into skin care a lot because that is the base of how your makeup looks and feels. Incorporating some skincare into your makeup regime allows it to act as a barrier especially if you have a long day of wearing makeup, being out, or sweating.

Along with water, eating healthy, and trial & error I curated what I found to work for me. This may not work for you, you may use other products than I do, that’s ok! If there are any new products you want me to try out or that you like LET ME KNOW in the comments. I have combination skin but I tend to be more dry during the winter months (duh) so I go heavy with thick moisturizers at nighttime and a little bit during the day.

Regardless on the day whether I do a full glam or just the basics, I do the prep every single time.

Before the makeup.

I prep my skin with 3 things: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream , Glow Serum , and lastly the Smashbox Photofinish Primer . The moisturizer is thick so if you don’t like thick moisturizers use a gel or water based moisturizer. I love a good thick cream on my face because the foundation I wear tends to be a bit over drying.

Now for the base

Foundation: Fenty Beauty Pro Filter Soft Matte Foundation or the NARS Longwear Radiant Foundation . The Fenty Beauty foundation is super drying for me so if you have combination but tend to be more dry keep that in mind! T

Concealer: NARS Creamy Radiant in shade creme brulee OR Shape Tape in the color light medium

Powder: BareMinerals Originals Foundation Powder. This is a go to powder that I use to set my makeup and add a little more evenness to my skin.

Bronzer: Two Faced Chocolate Soleil. I use this to softly contour my cheeks. I do want to try the Hula Bronzer by Benefit or a drugstore bronzer because I notice that this particular shade that I have forgot the name is more cool toned.

Blush/highlight: NARS Orgasm Blush. OR  the Fenty Beauty Killawat Highlighter I apply a swipe of the blush on my eyes too to add a little color and shine. The orgasm blush has some gold reflects in it as well so it’s super pretty with every skin tone.

Brows: I use a lot of different eyebrow products. I haven’t found one I absolutely love so I am still experimenting. What I do is I get a spoolie and put some dark eyeshadow on it and swipe it through my brows then I go in with an angled eyebrow brush and clean up the top. I love darker eyebrows because they frame the face super well. Swipe on some clear eyebrow gel and you are good to go. I’m trying to go more weeks between eyebrow threading appointments and am starting to embrace my bushy brows more but it’s so hard 😫 I am so tempted to just tweeze them away!

Eyes: like I said before, I use blush and my bronzer to add some definition to my eyes. Sometimes I’ll add some Fenty highlight but my go to mascara is the roller lash from benefit. I LOVE this stuff. I used to always opt for drugstore mascara cause I go through it so often but I’ve transitioned to this product because the brush separates each and every lash and just lengthens them so much.

My daily makeup routine is really simple. I keep emphasizing the importance of good skin and right now for some reason by under eyes are looking more tired than usual so I am wearing more full coverage makeup and concealer. Usually I put on some concealer, mascara, blush, and a light contour. Giving the chance for my skin to breathe while looking awake and refreshed.
